The Worm Moon in Virgo: Visioning into Power

As the seasons shift and the moon cycles through its phases, we find ourselves under the gaze of the Worm Moon in Virgo—a time for visioning and moving forward with powerful direction.

In the Northern Hemisphere, this moon signals the earth’s awakening, with worms stirring beneath the soil, softening the land for new life. It is a threshold moment, inviting us to pause, dream, and root ourselves in possibility before taking action.

The Last Chambers of Change: Visioning & Direction

Each seasonal transition carries its own rhythm of change, and the movement from winter into spring is no different. We may feel the urge to surge forward, to plant seeds, to take action—but before nature bursts into bloom, there is a sacred pause. Much like the moment we have our menstrual cycle bleed, or as we blossom out of peri-menopause, here is a time for alchemy.

Virgo gives us the grounded earth energy we need—to vision, reflect, and surrender to the magic of being still. This moon offers us the last quiet chamber of change before the full momentum of spring takes hold.

I have never been very good at being still, internally or externally. Yoga brought me back to myself and allowed me to find more peace. Cycle awareness took me deeper into myself than I ever knew possible.

In a recent reflection activity I discovered that although I surrender to winters call fairly easily now. I am unable to sit with it. I rush through, making plans, making lists, being firmly set in the future when I can ‘do more’ however I have been missing such a powerful time.

The Red School talk about the 5 chambers of menstruation and applied to the cycle of the wheel of the year it also maps beautifully. We have the separation & surrender at the beginning of winter. There is renewal if we allow ourselves to rest through deep winter. The coming of February often for me brings the visioning before the ‘direction’ becomes a little more clear ready for spring. If we can access this visioning more deeply through meditation, somatic movement, feminine meditations then our direction may be something bold.

Perhaps we are more powerful than we believe.

So how do we access our visioning, do we just sit still? Well yes, sort of.

Planning in quiet time to free right, journal, be without external distraction. This morning I lay in bed before the rest of the house woke up and just breathed. I sat with some tension around something that is happening and allowed it dissolve. Then I began to write. This is a luxury I dont always have so I grabbed with with two hands. Resisting the urge to ‘pop’ on social media or begin that shopping list I know I need. When could you carve out a pocket of time?

A Ritual for Visioning

If you love a ritual (I do) then bringing stillness into something more sacred feeling is very simple. try this.

What You’ll Need:

  • A journal and pen
  • A candle (preferably white or green)
  • A bowl of water (to honor Pisces’ fluid, intuitive energy)
  • A small item to represent your vision for spring (a seed, crystal, or token)

🌿 The Ritual:

Find a quiet space where you can sit undisturbed. Light your candle and place the bowl of water before you. Take a few deep breaths and soften into stillness. Close your eyes and visualise yourself standing at a threshold, winter behind you, spring ahead.

Gaze into the water. Imagine it as a portal to your dreams. What visions arise for your next chapter? Let them come without force. Write down your vision. Allow words, images, or even symbols to flow freely. Hold your small item and infuse it with your intention. Whisper your vision into it. Close by dipping your fingers into the water, touching your third eye (forehead) to seal the vision. Keep your item somewhere meaningful as a reminder of your intention.

Let me know what you see! If you want to come and share your vision or perhaps talk about your experience whether online or in person check out my next circles. HERE
